Founded in 1946 as Pattambi PCC Society, it started functioning in 1956 as Pattambi Co-operative Rural Bank . The bank now has 55700 members, capital of Rs 410 lakhs, deposits of Rs 260 crores, loan balance of Rs 244 crores and working capital of Rs 275 crores. Raised to Class-1 from 01.07.1984, Class-1 Special Grade Bank from 01.07.1996 and Super Grade Bank from 01.04.2013.
The bank has a head office and seven branches. Apart from this, Mele  Pattambi and Muthuthala branches are open 12 hours and open Sundays also. The bank has fully computerized and implemented core banking system. Dividends are paid every year to Class A members of banks that are continuously operating at a profit. Festive markets are conducted to control the price level and the market is intervened. Agricultural and non-agricultural loans, gold loans, housing loans, mid-term loans, Kudumbashree loans, special loans for women and overdrafts are provided to the members as per requirement. Interest-free loans are being provided to paddy farmers. Interest-free loans are provided to farmers to promote organic vegetable farming.

ATM/CDM, RTGS, NEFT, EFT and Mobile Banking systems have also been implemented to speed up money transactions. Through the Kudumbashree system, Muttathe Mulla (light rural credit scheme) and various types of government-run social welfare pensions are being implemented to protect the poor from usurers.

Neethi Medical Store at Mele Pattambi, Neethi Medical Store at Muthuthala and Neethi Medical Lab are functioning well. Ambulance, freezer and tractor of the bank are available to the public at low rates. A sales center for agricultural implements and decorative plant pots for farmers has started operations at Sankaramangalam. A football turf constructed with modern facilities and world-class standards has been commissioned at Mututala to enhance the sporting ability and taste of the youth. 
There is a tendency for the rice farmers in the bank’s operational area to stay away from the first crop as there is no system to store the rice after harvesting the first crop. As a solution to this, a rice storage center is being started with the facilities to dry and store 700 tons of rice with the financial assistance of NABARD under the leadership of the bank. It is expected that the construction will be completed within a year and the farmers will be able to use the system at low rent. With the aim of getting higher prices for the products of coconut farmers, a value added product manufacturing center is being started under the leadership of the bank to store and process coconuts. This project, which is expected to cost Rs 1 crore 55 lakh, is also receiving financial assistance from NABARD. The processing center is expected to be operational within a year with a capacity to process 5000 coconuts per day
